Tarbert Development Association is in negotiation with St Brendan’s Trust in relation to the purchase of a site for the purpose of developing a children’s playground. The Association is also consulting with Kerry County Council who will take over the insurance and maintenance once the playground is developed. The Council will only accept responsibility for insurance and maintenance providing the playground and all equipment put in place meets the criteria set out by RSPA, (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents). TDA is mindful of the fact that young people are adopting an increasingly sedentary lifestyle due to television, games consoles and computers and that the provision of playground facilities within the community is essential to address this. This project should be complete by next April/May and the community will be kept informed as the process proceeds.

Just an update on the Community Hall progress, The Committee has decided not go down the road with the liquidator in an effort to try and have a local input into the completion of the work. The engineer has now outlined specification for the completion process and a number of builders have been asked to submit a quotation in accordance with proper procedure. It is hoped that work will commence within the next 3 weeks and the hall should be completed in a few months. The downside of this is that the hall will now be completed about 10 weeks behind our planned completion date.
